PATTAYA, Thailand – A woman at the center of a violent altercation at a local eatery in Jomtien has come forward to share her side of the story after facing severe social media backlash and losing her job. The incident, which occurred at a casual dining restaurant, stemmed from a dispute over loud behavior, leading to a physical confrontation that left a female server injured, as we previously reported here.
On May 22nd, 2025, at 7:06 p.m., Ms. Em (pseudonym), aged 41, spoke to reporters to clarify her involvement in the incident, which had sparked widespread condemnation online. Her statements were quite different from the other parties involved.
According to Ms. Em the controversy began when a server filed a complaint with Pattaya City Police, alleging she was assaulted by the wife of a foreign national after warning their group about excessive noise. However, Ms. Em denied being married to a foreigner, stating she was merely hosting foreign tourists as a local.
Ms. Em admitted that her group was loud while eating and drinking beer at the restaurant. She claimed the server used harsh and offensive language, including derogatory terms like “prostitute” and accusations of soliciting customers, to reprimand them. Despite her attempts to apologize and calm the situation, Ms. Em said the server shouted at them in an aggressive tone. She tried to restrain her friends, but tensions escalated when the server allegedly raised a chair as if to strike them, prompting one of Ms. Em’s foreign friends to grab a bottle in self-defense. The confrontation turned physical, with a viral video showing Ms. Em pulling the server outside during the scuffle.
After the incident, Ms. Em alleged the server threatened to bring a group to attack them. Concerned for their safety, Ms. Em and her group remained in the restaurant, not out of defiance but because nearby residents warned them against leaving. She expressed regret, noting she apologized to both the restaurant owner and local residents for the disturbance.
The fallout has been severe for Ms. Em, who was fired from her job for wearing her work uniform during the incident, which her employer deemed damaging to their reputation. She urged the public to consider both sides of the story, arguing that while the server sustained significant injuries, she was not entirely blameless. Ms. Em plans to file her own police complaint but expressed willingness to negotiate with the server to resolve the matter amicably. If no agreement is reached, she intends to pursue legal action.
The case has sparked heated debate online, highlighting the complexities of public judgment in high-profile disputes. Authorities have yet to comment on the latest developments as both parties prepare to navigate the legal process.
