PATTAYA, Thailand – An accident claimed the life of a 27-year-old Myanmar national, identified as Mr. Maung Phu, on May 25, 2025, at 4:06 p.m. The incident occurred on the Highway 7 overpass in Nongprue. Police Lieutenant Colonel Ratpol Wanna, Deputy Superintendent of Investigations at the Highway Police Division 1, Subdivision 8, received the initial report of a motorcycle crashing into the bridge railing, resulting in a fatality.
Responding to the scene, police and volunteers from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Rescue Foundation found a red Honda Click motorcycle overturned and damaged. Skid marks stretched along the road and bridge railing, indicating the force of the crash. Below the overpass, approximately 4 meters down, Mr. Maung Phu’s body was found lifeless, having fallen after the impact. Authorities covered the body with a white cloth and restricted access to the area.
Mr. Watcharin Phromsit, a 30-year-old witness, told police he was driving on the overpass when he saw the victim speeding past a pickup truck. Attempting to overtake on a curved section, Mr. Maung Phu lost control, collided with the bridge railing, and struck a warning sign before plummeting to the ground below, sustaining fatal injuries.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Ratpol inspected the scene, documenting evidence and arranging for CCTV footage to determine the exact cause of the accident. The victim’s body was transported to Pattaya Memorial Hospital, where it awaits family members to present documentation and claim it for religious rites.
TPN media notes that generally motorbikes are not legally allowed on overpasses.
