Banglamung, Thailand – This weekend, at the Banglamung District Community Hall, Mr. Patcharapat Sritanyanon, Banglamung District Chief, joined Ms. Primtrita Sritanyanon, President of the Banglamung Red Cross Branch, and members of the branch to visit and encourage participants in the “Eye, Organ, and Blood Donation Project.” This initiative was organized to offer royal merit and pay tribute to Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, the Royal Patron and Director of the Thai Red Cross Society, on the occasion of her recent 70th birthday.
The project marks Her Royal Highness’s gracious permission to designate April 2—her birth anniversary—as “Thai Red Cross Organ Donation Center Day.” This day serves to honor the memory of deceased donors who have selflessly given their organs to help others, offering a second chance at life to those awaiting transplants. It also provides an opportunity for recipients to express gratitude to donors and acknowledge the people and organizations supporting the center’s activities. The event saw a strong turnout, with government officials, police, military personnel, volunteers, and the general public participating in large numbers to donate blood.
The Banglamung Red Cross Branch also extended an invitation to those with a compassionate spirit to register their intent to donate organs and tissues. Interested individuals can do so by downloading the “Organ Donation” mobile application, calling the Organ Donation Center hotline at 1666, or visiting www.organdonate.in.th. Alternatively, donations can be pledged while applying for a national ID card at district offices, municipal offices, or provincial hospitals, as well as through Red Cross offices and branches nationwide.
