Three Police Officers Die after Helicopter Crashes in Prachuap Khiri Khan, Second Crash in a Month

A police helicopter crashed in Koh Lak, Mueang Prachuap Khiri Khan at approximately 1:00 P.M. on Saturday (May 24th), 2025, resulting in the deaths of three officers onboard.

According to Pol. Maj. Gen. Nakharin Sukonthawit, commander of the Prachuap Khiri Khan Provincial Police, the aircraft belonged to the Royal Thai Police Aviation Division. The helicopter, identified as a Bell 212 model, departed from Apakorn Kiatwong Camp in Chumphon and was en route to Naresuan Camp in Prachuap Khiri Khan before the accident occurred near Nong Phang Phuai Temple.

Preliminary reports confirmed that the deceased officers include Police Captain Prathuang Chulert, who was serving as the pilot, and two other officers whose identities are currently being verified. Authorities are still determining whether the helicopter was deployed for a special mission or routine patrol operations.

Eyewitness accounts indicate that some individuals may have managed to parachute from the aircraft before impact, but their conditions remain unclear as rescue teams continue their search-and-recovery efforts.

Investigators are currently examining potential causes of the crash, including mechanical failure and adverse weather conditions. Further updates are expected as authorities gather more details about the incident.
