Pattaya —
A 32-year-old woman from Uttar Pradesh, India, was found dead in the bathroom of a hotel in Pattaya, Thailand, while on a recent trip with her husband and son. Her family has accused her husband, a doctor, of sedating and drowning her in the bathtub, according to Indian media.
Priyanka Sharma, the deceased, recently went on a trip to Pattaya with her husband, Dr. Ashish Srivastava, on January 4th. However, on January 8th, around 3 AM, Priyanka’s family received a call informing them that Priyanka died by accidentally drowning in the bathtub of their hotel room.
The woman’s family has since accused her husband of murdering her by drowning her in the bathtub, filing the complaint with Indian authorities. It was reported that on January 7th, Priyanka called her family to tell them she felt uncomfortable after her husband added something to her drink. Priyanka’s family suspected that Ashish, being a doctor, sedated her before drowning her.
Priyanka’s father, Satyanarayan Sharma, claimed that Ashish had been involved in an affair with another woman. When Priyanka found out about it, Ashish allegedly started harassing her. In 2022, Priyanka had filed a police complaint against him, but the matter was settled. The Thailand trip was reportedly meant to resolve their relationship problems.
The family of the victim has now lodged a formal complaint with the police and courts in India. An investigation is continuing in India where Ashish has since returned. As of press time, he has not released a public statement on the allegations and TPN media notes that it is unclear if Thai police and authorities are involved in the case or just Indian authorities.
