PATTAYA, Thailand – An accident claimed the life of a motorcyclist in Chonburi’s Banglamung district on the evening of May 21st, 2025. At approximately 9:00 p.m., the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Rescue Unit received a report of a collision between a high-powered motorcycle and a pickup truck near the entrance to Wat Santikham on Moo 4. Police from Banglamung Police Station and rescue personnel rushed to the scene.
Upon arrival, authorities found a large crowd gathered at the site. The area was cordoned off for a thorough investigation. Near the roadside, the body of a man, later identified as Weerayut Klaihiran, 43, was found with severe neck injuries and blood loss. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Nearby, a heavily damaged red Honda CBR 1000 RR motorcycle, was found overturned in roadside bushes approximately 50 meters from the collision point, close to a shrine dedicated to the Goddess of Mercy. A red Toyota Mighty pickup truck was also at the scene, showing damage to its rear. The driver of the pickup truck was taken into custody for questioning.
According to Sitti Yaemtrakul, 25, a friend of the deceased who was riding with him, the pair were traveling at approximately 120 km/h to meet friends when the accident occurred. Sitti stated that the pickup truck driver suddenly emerged from a side street, attempting to cross the road for a U-turn, leaving Weerayut with no time to brake, resulting in a high-impact collision with the truck’s rear. Sitti, miraculously, was uninjured.
Police documented the scene and collected evidence. The pickup truck driver, who wasn’t identified by police, is under investigation, and legal proceedings are underway. The victim’s body was transferred to Pattaya Hospital, awaiting collection by relatives for religious rites.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.
