PATTAYA, Thailand – A 27-year-old Myanmar roti vendor, identified as Mr. Ting Ngui, was arrested in connection with a series of sexual assaults and robberies targeting young women along Pattaya’s beachfront. The suspect, apprehended on May 22nd, 2025, allegedly lured victims under the pretense of offering rides before assaulting and robbing them in secluded areas.
The incidents occurred on the night of May 20th, 2025, in Pattaya. Three women were targeted, with two—aged 20 and 17—reporting the attacks to Pattaya City Police Station. The third victim escaped but did not file an official police report. According to police, the suspect used a black-and-red Honda Wave 125 motorcycle to approach victims, coax them onto his bike, and drive them to a forested area where he allegedly committed the crimes at knifepoint.
Following an intensive investigation, Pattaya police, led by Pol. Col. Anek Sarathongyoo and Pol. Maj. Arut Saphanont, tracked the suspect using CCTV footage and vehicle details. The breakthrough came from footage showing the suspect refueling at a petrol station near Sukhawadee House. Police traced the motorcycle to a rented room in Soi Rong Krong, Nong Kham, Si Racha, approximately 45 kilometers from Pattaya. During the arrest, authorities recovered a bag belonging to the 20-year-old victim, containing documents and two mobile phones, hidden in the suspect’s room. The motorcycle used in the crimes was also seized.
While in custody, Mr. Ting initially denied the allegations but later offered 15,000 baht to police in a failed bribe attempt to secure his release. He claimed the encounters were consensual, alleging he had agreed to pay 2,000 baht for sexual services with the first victim but lacked money for a hotel, leading him to take her to a secluded area. He claimed she fled, leaving her bag behind. For the 17-year-old victim, he admitted to negotiating a price but said she walked away before any act occurred. He denied any involvement with the third victim, stating he returned to Si Racha after the second incident.
During interrogation, Mr. Ting confessed to partial involvement, citing personal stress due to his wife’s pregnancy and claiming he traveled from Si Racha to Pattaya seeking paid services. He denied using a knife or committing robbery. However, police remain skeptical of his account and are continuing their investigation.
Pol. Col. Anek added that the case has drawn significant attention, with orders from Pol. Lt. Gen. Yingyot Thepjumnong and Pol. Maj. Gen. Thawatchakiat Jindakwansanong to swiftly apprehend the suspect. Over 40 CCTV cameras were reviewed to track the suspect’s escape route, leading to his arrest. The 20-year-old victim’s case has resulted in charges of rape, robbery, and using a vehicle to flee. The case involving the 17-year-old is pending further statements in the presence of prosecutors due to her minor status.
Authorities are urging anyone with additional information to contact Pattaya City Police Station as the investigation continues.
