Khao Kheow Open Zoo near Pattaya has been named Top Tourist Destination of the Year 2024 at the Thailand Top Vote 2024 award.

On January 22nd,, Mr. Narongwit Chodchoi, Director of Khao Kheow Open Zoo, received the “Top Tourist Destination of the Year 2024” award at the THAILAND TOP VOTE 2024 event. The ceremony was presided over by Ms. Jiraphon Sinthupry, Minister attached to the Prime Minister’s Office. The event took place at the Phenix Pratunam Shopping Mall in Bangkok.

The Thailand Top Vote 2024 event was organized by MCOT Plc. It recognizes achievements across six categories, including entertainers, influencers, athletes, Thai brands, tourist spots, and public organizations that people like the most.

The event started in October 2024, with the public nominating Khao Kheow Open Zoo via SMS. The zoo was one of five finalists that moved to the second round, with voting running rom November 18th to December 31st, 2024. The final results combined public votes and a survey by NIDA Poll, with Khao Kheow Open Zoo receiving the highest score in the Top Tourist Destination of the Year 2024 category.

Khao Kheow Open Zoo is home to the internationally famous pygmy hippo, Moo Deng, who also received the Top Meme of the Year award from the social media platform X in 2024.
