PATTAYA, Thailand (May 26, 2025) – The Pattaya City Education Committee met at Pattaya City Hall to outline its operational strategy for 2025, focusing on resolving teacher shortages and improving educational quality in Pattaya’s schools. The meeting, chaired by Mrs. Jidapa Suwatthaporn, President of the Education Committee, included Pattaya City Council members, Deputy Mayor Mr. Krisana Boonsawad, and relevant government officials.
The committee discussed setting student admission criteria for secondary education in Pattaya’s municipal schools. Priority will be given to local students with a minimum GPA of 3.00, with class sizes capped at 35 students. In exceptional cases, schools may admit up to five additional students per class to avoid overcrowding and ensure effective student supervision.
For students advancing to upper secondary education (Grades 10-12), schools offering these levels will prioritize their current students, provided they meet the 3.00 GPA requirement. If vacancies remain, external students may be admitted through a competitive examination, with class sizes still limited to 35 to maintain teaching quality and efficiency.
The committee also addressed the critical issue of teacher shortages. Schools have been instructed to submit data on teacher and student numbers to the Education Office by June 7, 2025. This information will be forwarded to the Personnel Division to facilitate the hiring of additional teachers to meet each school’s needs.
Mrs. Jidapa tasked the Educational Supervision Unit with analyzing the strengths of each school to develop tailored plans that highlight their unique potential. The goal is to elevate all Pattaya municipal schools toward excellence in various areas, fostering a brighter future for education in the city.
