Indian Tourist Assaulted and Seriously Injured by Frustrated Motorbike Rider in Pattaya Over Alleged Drunken Misconduct

PATTAYA, Thailand – An unidentified Indian tourist, aged approximately 35-40, was seriously injured in an assault in the early hours of May 17th, 2025, in Soi Thepprasit 17. The incident, reported at 1:36 AM, brought a fast response from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Rescue Unit and Pattaya City Police, accompanied by The Pattaya News team.

At the scene, rescue workers found the tourist heavily intoxicated, with severe injuries including a split eyebrow and a fractured eye socket, and blood streaming down his face and staining his clothes. Emergency personnel provided initial first aid before rushing him to a nearby hospital. The suspect, identified only as a passenger transport rider, had fled before authorities arrived. A photograph captured by a bystander was handed to police as evidence.

According to a security guard, name withheld by request, at a nearby condominium who stated he was a witness, the rider was frustrated by the tourist’s behavior. The tourist, in a drunken state, had allegedly provided an incorrect drop-off location, causing the motorbike rider to drive around aimlessly. Tensions escalated when the tourist reportedly groped the rider, touching his body and reaching for his crotch. Enraged, the rider stopped the vehicle and punched the tourist in the face, causing the injuries.

Police are awaiting the tourist’s recovery to file a formal complaint at Pattaya City Police Station. Authorities are actively investigating and pursuing the suspect for legal action.

It appeared the rider was a mobile app taxi rider but this wasn’t confirmed as of press time.
