Laem Chabang Port Awards Scholarships to Boost English Skills for Local Youth

CHONBURI, Thailand – On May 27th, 2025, Lt. Yuttana Mokhao, Director of Laem Chabang Port, presided over a ceremony to award 3.15 million baht in funding for the “English Development Program for Youth in Communities Surrounding Laem Chabang Port” for the first semester of the 2025 academic year. Now in its 12th consecutive year, this corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative supports seven schools across three municipalities near the port.

The ceremony, held at the Traethong 1 Room in the Laem Chabang Port Welfare Center, was attended by key port officials, including Deputy Director Ms. Sirima Keeratayakom, General Administration Director Ms. Porntipa Thaveenuch, Planning Director Ms. Nattanantha Jindapongcharoen, Assistant General Administration Director Ms. Siriporn Chonlawanich, as well as school administrators and student representatives.

Lt. Yuttana stated that the program aims to enhance students’ English proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. The initiative employs non-native foreign teachers to support classroom learning while empowering local Thai teachers to improve their teaching methods. The goal is to equip youth with essential 21st-century skills, preparing them for global opportunities.
The seven beneficiary schools are:
  1. Ban Banglamung School (178 students, 1 foreign teacher)
  2. Wat Mai Noen Phayom School (616 students, 1 foreign teacher)
  3. Wat Chuk Ka Cheu School (658 students, 1 foreign teacher)
  4. Banglamung Kindergarten (1,089 students, 2 foreign teachers)
  5. Ban Na Wang School (243 students, 1 foreign teacher)
  6. Ban Rong Heap School (310 students, 1 foreign teacher)
  7. Ban Pong Saket School (1,059 students, 2 foreign teachers)
Since its inception in 2013, the program has invested over 71 million baht to provide quality English education to local youth. Lt. Yuttana highlighted that the initiative seeks to nurture skilled individuals capable of thriving in an interconnected world, aligning with the port’s commitment to community development and global competitiveness.
