PATTAYA— In the early hours of May 18th, 2025, a naked foreign tourist, believed to be European and aged between 30 and 40, went on a rampage in Pattaya’s Naklua area, prompting a coordinated response from local police and rescue teams.
At approximately 12:30 AM, the Banglamung Police Station in Chonburi received reports from alarmed residents about a foreign tourist acting erratically, completely naked, and speaking incoherently. The incident occurred on Naklua Road, Soi 9, in the Naklua Sub-district. Authorities quickly dispatched officers and coordinated with volunteers from the Sawang Boriboon Pattaya Rescue Team to intervene. The Pattaya News team also responded to the scene.
Upon arrival, police and rescue personnel encountered the naked tourist in a frenzied state, clutching a chair and a stone while damaging residents’ property. Efforts to calm him and persuade him to drop the objects proved challenging, as he resisted aggressively. After a tense 20-minute struggle, officers and rescue workers managed to subdue the individual and transport him to Banglamung Police Station to regain composure.
Kamphon Malison, a rescue volunteer, provided details of the incident. He explained to The Pattaya News that the rescue team was initially called to administer first aid to a foreign tourist who had fled from a hospital near Pho Naklua Market. By the time they arrived, the individual had briefly escaped police custody and was running amok. “He was in a crazed state, throwing stones and a chair at us,” Malison said. Working with police, the team devised a plan to apprehend the tourist, eventually restraining him despite his violent resistance.
Authorities have not released the tourist’s identity or further details about his condition, why he had been in a hospital, or motives. The incident has raised concerns among locals, and police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the tourist’s behavior and escape from the hospital.
