Giant King Cobra Sparks Fear and Lottery Frenzy Near Pattaya

Banglamung –

On May 21st, 2025, at 4:36 p.m., a massive king cobra measuring nearly 5 meters long caused panic after slithering into a residential property in Chonburi’s Khao Mai Kaew subdistrict.

The incident occurred at house number 186, Moo 5, in a garden area along Soi Phor Chiep. Local authorities were alerted by alarmed residents, prompting Mr. Jamnian Keetipakul, the head of Khao Mai Kaew Subdistrict Administrative Organization (SAO), to dispatch a response team led by Deputy Chief Mr. Bancha Udon.

Upon arrival, the team discovered the enormous snake leisurely swimming in a dugout pond within a sprawling 4-rai (1.6-hectare) garden estate. The sight sent shivers down the spines of both the homeowner and the response team. After a challenging effort, officials successfully captured the giant king cobra using specialized equipment. The snake was later measured at an astonishing 4.5 meters long.

The homeowner revealed that this was not the first reptilian intrusion on the property. A previous encounter involved a python that had slithered away into the garden. On this occasion, the homeowner was tending to the garden when they spotted the massive snake gliding through the pond, sparking immediate concern for the safety of family members. They quickly contacted the Khao Mai Kaew SAO, which responded promptly, ensuring no one was harmed.

Mr. Bancha Udon shared a remarkable detail about the incident. After capturing the snake and safely attempting to release it back into the wild, the cobra initially refused to leave. Drawing on local folklore that such a large snake could be a guardian spirit, Mr. Bancha respectfully addressed the creature, saying, “Go back to the forest, Grandfather.” Astonishingly, the snake then slithered away into the wilderness, leaving onlookers in awe.

The incident has since ignited a frenzy among local lottery enthusiasts, who have been eagerly interpreting the snake’s size and the house number—186—as potential lucky numbers for a chance at fortune.
