Pattaya 2025 World Boccia Asia-Oceania Regional Championships Kick Off in Style

PATTAYA, Thailand – May 24th, 2025 – The Pattaya 2025 World Boccia Asia-Oceania Regional Championships officially opened at the Pattaya Exhibition and Convention Hall (PEACH) this week within the Royal Cliff Beach Hotel, drawing athletes from 16 nations across Asia and Oceania.

The event, held from May 19th to the 28th, 2025, was inaugurated by Pattaya Mayor Poramese Ngampichet, with key figures including Anusorn Pimnga, Secretary-General of the Thailand Cerebral Palsy Sports Association and competition manager, and Lt. Gen. Isra Watcharaprateep, Advisory Chairman of the organizing committee, in attendance.

The championships, a premier regional event for boccia—a precision sport designed for athletes with disabilities—aim to enhance athletes’ skills, promote international-standard competitions, and elevate Thailand’s reputation as a host for global disability sports events. Anusorn highlighted the event’s role in fostering inspiration, promoting health, ability, and equality for people with disabilities, with over 350 participants, including athletes, coaches, medical teams, and support staff, taking part.

Leading Thailand’s charge is “James” Worawut Saengampa, a world-class boccia athlete and Tokyo 2020 Paralympic gold medalist, competing in the BC2 category. His participation has sparked excitement among Thai fans, who see him as a beacon of hope for the nation’s medal prospects.

The event is part of Thailand’s commitment to inclusive sports and is set to deliver thrilling competition while showcasing the resilience and talent of athletes from across the region.
