Chonburi, Thailand – On May 21st, 2025, Chonburi Highway Police, under the command of Pol. Lt. Gen. Jirabhop Bhuridej, Commissioner of the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB), arrested suspects allegedly involved in a sophisticated car fraud scheme. The operation, led by Pol. Maj. Gen. Sophon Saraphat, Pol. Maj. Gen. Kongkrit Lertsittikul, and other senior officers, resulted in the seizure of a white BMW X3 with the license plate JW 9789, Bangkok, and the apprehension of two suspects for alleged forgery and fraud.

The case began when a victim reported on March 22nd, 2025, at Chokchai Police Station, that their BMW X3 had been illegally duplicated with a forged license plate. The vehicle was used to commit traffic violations, leading to multiple fines wrongly issued to the victim. Following an investigation, highway police tracked the suspect vehicle to Highway No. 7, between kilometers 145-146 in Ban Chang, Rayong.

Upon inspection, the driver, Mr. Krisana Khankasikam, 33, failed to produce valid documents. A chassis number check confirmed the car belonged to the victim, and Mr. Krisana confessed to purchasing the illicit vehicle, complete with fake plates and tax stickers, from an underground online market via a Facebook page, “Second-Hand Repossessed Cars,” for 127,000 baht in early 2025. No legal transfer or sales contract was made.

In a related case, Ms. Wilaiporn Inprang, 35, was arrested on the same highway at kilometer 50 in Bang Pakong, Chachoengsao, under a warrant issued by Samut Prakan Provincial Court on October 16, 2024, for alleged fraud. Ms. Wilaiporn, linked to a car rental business in Lat Krabang, was accused of multiple fraudulent activities. Victims reported through the CIB’s Facebook page that she rented out vehicles, took deposits, and then allegedly repossessed the cars prematurely without refunding payments. Additionally, she allegedly used others’ identities to secure car loans, selling or pawning the vehicles without transferring ownership or paying installments, resulting in losses for victims.

Both suspects, along with the seized BMW, were handed over to local police for further legal action. Authorities are continuing investigations to uncover the full extent of the illegal operations and protect affected victims.
