Pattaya, Thailand – Six temporary floating piers at Bali Hai Pier in South Pattaya are now fully operational, following a comprehensive upgrade aimed at enhancing safety and accessibility for residents and tourists.
Deputy Mayor Krisana Boonsawat, accompanied by Pattaya City Council members from District 3, engineering department officials, and other municipal leaders, inspected the readiness of the six newly renovated floating piers on Friday. The upgrade project, which began on February 5th, 2025, and concluded on May 9, 2025, replaces older infrastructure to improve public service efficiency and ensure the safety of passengers and their property.
The new piers, constructed from high-density polyethylene (HDPE), are designed to accommodate diverse needs. Piers 1, 2, 3, and 5 measure 9×26 meters, while Piers 4 and 6, sized at 9×28 meters, feature specialized ramps to facilitate access for people with disabilities, the elderly, and travelers with luggage. These upgrades align with Pattaya’s vision of fostering inclusive maritime tourism for all.
Deputy Mayor Krisana highlighted that the original piers, installed in 2014, had served for over a decade, supporting heavy foot traffic to Koh Larn and boosting the local tourism economy. The new piers aim to elevate safety standards for water-based travel in Pattaya and Koh Larn, ensuring a safer and more accessible experience for all visitors.
The revamped Bali Hai Pier is now ready to welcome passengers, marking a step forward in Pattaya’s efforts to promote sustainable and inclusive tourism.
