Pattaya —
Banglamung District kicked off its 2025 military conscription on April 7th, with hundreds of eligible men reporting for selection at Pattaya City School 2.
At 9:00 AM on April 7th, the first day of the 2025 military conscription process took place at the Pattaya City School 2. The selection event was overseen by the 1st Infantry Battalion, 29th Infantry Regiment.
Lieutenant Colonel Adisai Netsawang, Commander of the 1st Infantry Battalion, 29th Infantry Regiment, served as chairman of the selection committee. From early morning, Thai men aged 21 and older, as well as those previously granted deferment, whose residences are in Nongprue sub-district, villages 8–14, Banglamung district, Chonburi, reported for military conscription screening.
The selection committee is tasked with identifying candidates who meet the physical requirements set by the government and who are free from disqualifying health conditions.
This year, the selection venue was strictly controlled. Space was provided outside the screening area for parents and family members to offer support, as well as for reporters, who were only allowed to record footage from the perimeter.
The conscription process in Banglamung district is scheduled to take place over four days, from April 7th to 10th. All screenings are being held at the Pattaya City School 2.
TPN Media notes that one reason these drafts go viral yearly in Thailand is transgender people who arrive usually in fantastic dresses and makeup to prove to military leadership they are actually transgender which grants them an exemption from service. Pattaya was no exception, as seen in the photos.
