Truck Driver Blames Slippery Road for Morning Accident in Pattaya

Pattaya, Thailand – At 8:00 AM on May 24th, 2025, a serious accident involving an 18-wheeler truck occurred on Sukhumvit Road in Pattaya as heavy rainfall made roads dangerously slippery. The Sawang Boriboon Rescue Center in Pattaya received reports of a truck veering off the road at the U-turn section in Moo 5 in Khao Mai Kaew. Rescue volunteers were promptly dispatched to the scene, accompanied by The Pattaya News team.

Upon arrival, authorities found a white FOTON 18-wheeler truck in a severely damaged state. The vehicle had skidded off the road, with the trailer section folding over and crushing the cab. The driver, Mr. Pornchai Kulbut, 47, and his wife, who was accompanying him, sustained minor injuries. Rescue teams worked under relentless rain to safely extract the couple from the wreckage.

Mr. Pornchai told The Pattaya News that he was driving to pick up goods at an industrial estate when the accident occurred. “It was pouring heavily, and as I drove down the hill, I tapped the brakes,” he explained. “The truck lost traction on the wet road and slid off the side.”
Authorities are investigating the crash and have urged drivers to exercise caution during the rainy season.
